Premier League manager ‘could quit’ club if offered Tottenham job, and it’s not Marco Silva
Oliver Glasner faces a big summer of transfer talk at Crystal Palace, and not just over the future of his players
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner supposedly ‘could quit’ Selhurst Park this summer if not given financial backing by the board and offered the Tottenham Hotspur job.
That’s according to Football Insider, with the outlet speaking to former Premier League scout Mick Brown about the potential managerial merry-go-round. Ange Postecoglou is still in charge at Spurs but the 4-2 defeat to Wolves was just the latest blow in a thoroughly underwhelming season.
The club sits 15th in the Premier League table with just six matches left to play this season, now only two points above Wolves and 16 points above the relegation zone. More importantly, Tottenham Hotspur are a huge 17 points away from the top six.

Fabrizio Romano this week named Fulham and AFC Bournemouth men Marco Silva and Andoni Iraola as ‘concrete options’ for Tottenham Hotspur but Glasner is a name that has also been quietly linked with the job. According to Brown, if offered the Spurs job, Glasner could walk away from Crystal Palace should he be left frustrated by the summer window.
Several first team Eagles stars have been linked with moves to Premier League rivals, including Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Tyrick Mitchell and Daniel Munoz. Brown said: “Oliver Glasner is one of the names on their list. He seems to me to be a very stable character, he knows what he wants and how to get it.
“The evidence is there in the way his team have performed since he came in and they’ve been largely successful – and they’re in the FA Cup semi-finals.
“He will speak to Palace to find out what sort of backing he’s going to get this summer. That is both in terms of players they’re going to bring in and players they’re going to keep, because there has been a lot of talk about them.
“If he doesn’t believe he will get that backing, I think he will walk and take the Tottenham job – that’s if he’s the one they decide to offer it to. I haven’t heard anything to suggest he’s unhappy at Palace or that he’s wanting to move on. But it seems Marc Guehi will leave, there’s endless talk about Mateta, then you’ve got Eze, Wharton, the spine of that team is attracting interest.
“So for Glasner, if the club can’t make any promises about keeping those players, what do you do? Tottenham can offer him backing in the market and they’ll be looking to get back into European competition next year, so it’s going to be a big decision.”

In Monday’s edition of the GiveMeSport newsletter, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano was asked for the latest on who could replace Postecoglou. He said: “I’m still hearing about Iraola and Silva as two concrete options. For Motta, no contacts at this stage.”
