Potter can’t catch a break with 173-game Hammer now ruled out with thigh injury

Graham Potter can’t catch a break as West Ham player with 173 appearances ruled out with thigh injury. West Ham United head coach Graham Potter hasn’t had the easiest of starts since taking over from Julen Lopetegui.

Graham Potter has faced Aston Villa away, twice, Chelsea away and Brentford, Crystal Palace and Fulham at home.

There have been slight improvements on display at West Ham, but the results just haven’t been forthcoming. In fairness to Potter, he has numerous key players out injured right now, but he still needs to get more out of the ones who are available to him.

The performance against Brentford on Saturday was a really turgid one, and Potter singled out only three players for praise after the game.

Football management can be unforgiving when things aren’t going well. Potter needs some results quickly, if he is to get the fans truly on his side.

We need some context here though. The Hammers have had some big players out over the past month or so. Jarrod Bowen has only just returned to action from a fractured foot, whilst the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo, Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez have all experienced problems at different times.

Meanwhile, Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville are all still out.

And now another name has been added to that injury list…

West Ham’s Vladimir Coufal suffers injury in blow for Graham Potter

The Hammers have a small squad as it is.

Potter is said to be plotting a big squad revamp in the summer, and boy do we need that.

For now though, the Hammers boss has to work with what he’s got, and it seems like he’ll have one less option going forward, in the short-term future at least. Vladimir Coufal has now been ruled out with a thigh injury (Premier Injuries).

Considering the other injuries we have right now, losing the Czech Republic international to a thigh problem is far from ideal.

The 32-year-old is certainly not a regular starter for us, but he’s still a very important member of the squad.

Hopefully Coufal isn’t out injured for too long, because Graham Potter needs all hands on deck at West Ham right now.
