Amid talk of Tottenham Hotspur signing a new striker in January, their scouts may have noticed an old face excelling in Europe last night.
Although Spurs aren’t involved in European football this season, one of their former players was actually putting in a match winning performance against Barcelona last night.
Vincent Janssen is a name that will be familiar with those in North London, and the 29-year-old is now flying at Royal Antwerp.
The Belgian side recorded a famous 3-2 win against Barcelona in the Champions League last night.
And Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad deservedly handed Janssen a 9/10 rating for his efforts, who scored the second goal of the night.
Moreover, as well as praising his attacking play, the review was also impressed with his efforts defending.
It said: “Was right in the match with a good interception and a chance in Peña’s hands.
“Got few refereeing decisions in his favour. There might also have been some frustration in his shot at the 2-1.
“Top match, even as an 11th defender when needed.”
Of course, Tottenham sold Janssen for £6m in 2019, having signed him for £17m three years earlier.

Janssen aside, it will be interesting to see if Spurs do target a striker in January.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have been excelling with Son Heung-min in a central role, however he will imminently depart for the Asian Cup.

Richarlison’s return to form could prove timely, however, Tottenham will surely still want additional quality in the area.
However, given the situation at centre-back and other areas of the squad, Daniel Levy may save a striker for the coming summer.
