One in and two out as talkSPORT reporter makes incredibly exciting West Ham transfer claim

One in and two out at West Ham after incredibly exciting Trevoh Chalobah transfer claim. West Ham United appear to be well in the race to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea this summer.

However, it emerged yesterday that his £80k-a-week wages are proving to be problematic for the Hammers. Trevoh Chalobah would be a superb signing for West Ham, so I have no doubts that Julen Lopetegui will be pushing the boat out to sign him.

Max Kilman has already been brought to the London Stadium by Lopetegui, and now Chalobah could be next.

The 25-year-old is being incessantly chased by the Hammers and he could be available for around £25 million this summer. That seems like very good value to me, given his genuine quality and extensive experience of playing at the highest level.

Described as an ‘incredible’ defender by Football.London, the 25-year-old possesses blistering pace, is aerially dominant, and reads the game very well indeed.

He’s a central defender by trade, but can also operate as a right-back or even as a defensive midfielder if need be.

As far as I’m concerned, signing Chalobah should be an absolute no-brainer for West Ham, but what are the chances of it actually happening? One in, two out at West Ham after Trevoh Chalobah transfer claim

Chalobah will almost certainly leave Stamford Bridge this summer, after being left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour to the United States.

The defender is a top player, and there will be no shortage of suitors for his signature this summer, that’s for sure.

At 25, he’s at the ideal age for a centre-back as well – old enough to have plenty of experience yet still young enough to have a good decade left ahead of him at the highest level.

Now he could be Hammers bound, but there’s been a twist…

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, the Hammers will have to sell one of either Nayef Aguerd or Kurt Zouma, before we have any chance of bringing Chalobah to the London Stadium.

That makes perfect sense to me, considering the need for Lopetegui to bolster his £90 million summer budget with some player sales.

Chalobah, 25, is a huge upgrade on both Zouma and Aguerd. The Frenchman can no longer run without causing himself an issue, and is in no fit state to be playing Premier League football.

The picture of Zouma that emerged after we played Dagenham was hugely concerning, and it told its own story.

Meanwhile, Aguerd lacks the physicality needed to succeed in the Premier League, and his positional awareness is quite frankly appalling. The 28-year-old allegedly wants to leave West Ham this summer, and I think he’ll be more easy to sell than Zouma.

Selling Aguerd or Zouma – preferably both – and signing Trevoh Chalobah this summer would be brilliant business from West Ham.

The thought of both of those players leaving and the 25-year-old joining the club is an incredibly exciting one.

The Chelsea ace would be a fine addition to Lopetegui’s ranks at the London Stadium, and would form a superb partnership with Max Kilman. Hopefully Zouma and Aguerd are sent on their way this summer, and Trevoh Chalobah replaces them at West Ham.
