Oliver Glasner must drop 26-year-old player and start ‘outstanding’ £14m Crystal Palace star vs Luton
After defeat last week against Spurs, Oliver Glasner will be desperate to see his Crystal Palace side return to winning ways vs Luton.
Oliver Glasner has now managed two games at Crystal Palace with a record of one win and one loss, but in both games there has been serious positives to take.
In the first game, the Eagles thrashed Burnley 3-0 in an impressive attacking display, while also limiting Burnley to scraps.
Last weekend, in the second game it was always going to be tough, away from home to Tottenham, Palace held on for 70 minutes, even taking the lead before ultimately succumbing to a 3-1 defeat.
In both these games Jean-Philippe Mateta has started but has failed to make an impact, despite getting on the scoresheet from the spot against Burnley.
Jean-Philippe Mateta should be dropped against Luton Town
Using his performance against Burnley as the basis, Mateta hasn’t done enough to convince us that he deserves to be starting this weekend.
In the 3-0 win he completed just eight passes, two shots and was dispossessed on four occassions according to FotMob.
The only contribution he really made was scoring a penalty when Palace were 2-0 up already, he was barely a factor in the game.
So this, along with a similarly quiet display against Tottenham could mean that Glasner sees it as the perfect time to bring Odsonne Edouard back into the starting line-up, this time up front.
Odsonne Edouard should start vs Luton Town
With Mateta dropping out, ideally this would see Edouard thrown back in up front where he has so often impressed since his £14m move from Celtic.

The ‘outstanding‘ Frenchman has scored six Premier League goals this season, but is yet to be afforded a chance leading the line for Glasner.
Given Edouard is slightly more mobile and arguably more clinical in front of goal, he could be perfect to come in against Luton when Palace are expected to dominate proceedings at Selhurst Park.
With a summer of change coming at Selhurst Park, Glasner should give every player of quality like Edouard their chance to show they deserve to stay.
