Rio Ferdinand reveals what Arsenal ace Declan Rice told him about his time at West Ham United
Ex Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed what Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice told him in private about his time at West Ham before moving this summer.
Rice has enjoyed a great start to life at the Emirates and has become one of the Gunners’ most important players.
Ferdinand revealed that he messaged him and said that he’s proving he was worth the nine-figure outlay already and the 24-year-old responded that he was doing the exact same thing at West Ham.
The former Premier League centre-back told Vibe With Five, “You know what, I text Declan and just said testament to you, that no one is talking about the price tag and his response was absolutely bang on. Declan said: ‘Come on, I was doing the same thing at West Ham and no one wanted to speak about it’.”
Spot on
Rice did not get the credit he deserved at West Ham from the general public perhaps because they’re not considered as one of the top Premier League sides.
Now, when he’s able to do it in the Champions League, suddenly everyone is taking note of what a terrific midfielder he is
This is why West Ham were adamant with their transfer fee and were demanding a club-record outlay for the England international.
In fact, what he did at the London Stadium was harder as he did not have the quality of players he does now at the Emirates.
Even in games Moyes’ side got heavily beat, he was there putting in 7/10s and 8/10s consistently and was undoubtedly among the standout performers during wins.
It remains to be seen just how far Rice can go in his career and him guiding the Hammers to a European trophy is undoubtedly a day each fan will remember for the rest of their lives.
