‘Naive’ – Finance Expert: Tottenham outrage is ‘Rich’ after £80m Daniel Levy claim

Tottenham outrage is rich as Everton saga spills over – Finance Expert

Dan Plumley has insisted that Tottenham outrage over accusations from Everton is a little rich after the deal to sign Richarlison were used in their recent case with the Premier League.

The Daily Mail reported on 20 November that Spurs were not happy after the Toffees made the “absurd” claim that Daniel Levy’s refusal to pay £80million caused them to breach spending rules.

The finance expert admitted that anyone would be “naive” to think things like this don’t happen all the time, with Spurs’ move actually a smart business play.

“It’s both fronts, isn’t it,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.

“Everton will say that linked to the position they’re in and also Spurs coming out and being outraged by that is also a little bit rich if you excuse the pun because actually, that happens in business all the time.

“That’s a business negotiation and if you can get the price down for you and make that work for you because of someone else’s poor fortune or misfortune, we’re naive if we think that doesn’t happen.

“Actually, from a business point of view, if you strip out everything and look at the cold, hard light of finances, it’s good business sense to do that and nobody would argue with that.

“You can see the Everton play, you can understand the Tottenham rhetoric that is coming back, but again, both of those items are a little bit rich and a little tit-for-tat and laying blame at someone’s door when it was just a business transaction that made sense for both parties when you strip it back.”
