Moyes makes worrying Kudus and Emerson admission after Manchester United defeat

West Ham United boss David Moyes has made a really honest admission about one part of his team in particular.

David Moyes has received heavy criticism from the West Ham fans for some of his team selections and tactical setups this season.

During our defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford today, Mohammed Kudus played out wide on the left – a position where he is rendered as totally ineffective for the most part.

As a result of our 3-0 loss, Man United leap-frogged the Hammers in the Premier League table, so it really was a bad day at the office for Moyes and his players.

And one of the Scot’s explanations for the loss today should really worry the West Ham fans if you ask me…

David Moyes makes worrying admission after West Ham defeat to Man United

The Scot addressed the media after today’s hammering against the Red Devils.

And Moyes highlighted how he is struggling to get the balance correct down the left hand flank, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

We haven’t got into our rhythm, mainly because of some of our boys being away at the Africa Cup of Nations and because of two or three injuries. If we look at our form up until around the first of January, we’ve been very good. But we’ve got knocked off by those things and we just can’t get the balance to our team right on the left-hand side.”

Listen, I actually didn’t think the performance as a whole was too bad this afternoon, but our lack of any kind of cutting edge inside the final third is a big concern.

I find Moyes’s admission about our struggles down the left hand side really worrying, and it makes the fact that the Scot didn’t sign a left winger in January all the more bizarre.

I just don’t get it, I really don’t. Moyes seems to have a habit of putting square pegs in round holes. Kudus is completely wasted out wide on the left, whilst Emerson seems to be lost when Lucas Paqueta isn’t playing.

David Moyes made the honest admission that he’s struggling to get the balance right on the left hand side of the pitch after West Ham lost to Manchester United.

However, the problems that the Scot has are all his own making. It’s a real shame that the January transfer window passed without any incomings in the final few days. Everyone at the club will look back on that as a real missed opportunity when the season ends, I have no doubts about that.
