Moyes drops clear hint that one West Ham player will miss Tottenham game

David Moyes just dropped a big hint regarding where he sees Divin Mubama in the current West Ham centre-forward pecking order.

Divin Mubama finally got his big chance when David Moyes started him for West Ham against TSC Backa Topola in the Europa League last week.

The 19-year-old Hammers hitman is very highly rated at the London Stadium, but he has only played 279 minutes of football for the senior team (Transfermarkt), and he will be out of contract in the summer of 2024 after recently rejected a new deal from the club.

I’m keeping all my fingers crossed that he stays at West Ham, but in order for that to happen, Moyes must make him feel valued.

If not, Mubama will be well within his rights to move on to pastures new in search of more regular first-team action.

And Moyes has just dropped a hint that suggests the teenager is not really in his first-team plans, not right now at least…

West Ham boss drops Divin Mubama hint

It seems as though the 19-year-old will not be featuring for the Hammers against Tottenham tomorrow night.

That’s because he played the full 90 minutes for the West Ham under-21s in our 4-0 Bristol Street Motors Trophy win over Colchester United last night.

Now, Steve Potts obviously picked the team, but Mubama would not have been included if Moyes told him that he needed the 19-year-old for Thursday’s clash with Spurs.

I guess that means that Jarrod Bowen will lead the line once again, unless Michail Antonio has made a miraculous recovery from injury.

I never want to see Danny Ings wear a West Ham shirt ever again, but the 31-year-old might just feature at some point tomorrow, if Antonio is still missing.

I get that it was a key game for the under-21s last night, but it wasn’t more important than the senior side’s Premier League clash with Tottenham tomorrow.

In my opinion, Divin Mubama should have been kept fresh for the Tottenham vs West Ham clash, just in case we need him.

And the fact that he played last night for the under-21s is a strong message from Moyes in my view.
