David Moyes has been backed for a shock return to management in a top job after his imminent West Ham exit.
If you had listened to his many friends in the media of late anyone would think David Moyes would have a plethora of jobs lined up when he leaves West Ham.
Moyes has done a tremendous job overall since re-joining the Hammers four-and-a-half years ago.
But West Ham fans have grown tired of his approach and style of football.
Results have dried up too with only five wins in 25 games this year costing the Hammers a place in Europe.
West Ham fans who wanted Moyes to be replaced have been warned ad nauseum by certain members of the press, pundits and former Hammers players and managers to be ‘careful what they wish for’.
In the eyes of many Moyes is as good as it can ever get for West Ham.
Moyes backed for shock return in top job
Hammers supporters calling for change have always posed the question that if Moyes is so highly thought of and coveted, then which clubs will be waiting to snap him up when he leaves?
Graeme Souness surprisingly flipped the argument this week when he stated that West Ham will be as good as it gets for Moyes.
Moyes seemed to concede that might be the case too.
When asked about his plans, the Scot said last week he wanted to stay in management but may go into coaching and advising young bosses.
Hardly the ambitions of a manager in high demand from clubs at the top level of football.
Many believe the first chance Moyes will get at a return to club management will come this winter if and when a struggling side sacks their manager and wants to avoid relegation.
But someone who knows Moyes well believes he might be a surprise candidate for a top international job.

Lawrenson says Moyes would be coup for Ireland
With Scotland going so well under Steve Clarke, Moyes’ chances of landing the top job with his own national side are non-existent.
Republic of Ireland may well look to him as their next manager, though, according to Mark Lawrenson.
Lawrenson and Moyes are close friends from the Scot’s days managing Preston North End.
The former BBC Sport pundit says he has recently spoken to Moyes about his situation.
Now Lawro is backing the departing Hammers boss as the perfect candidate for the Ireland job.
And he thinks he’d be open to it.
“I spoke to him before the last home game and I’ve known him for a long time as you know, since he was managing Preston, and he was so chilled,” Lawro told Off The Ball in an interview you can see below.
“He said ‘you know what, I’m just not bothered about whatever happens.’ He’ll get another job, he can’t stay at home because football is his absolute life…
“Even if it’s a ‘no’ you’ve (the FAI) got to ring him up. They’ll be on the phone for about two hours and 40 minutes because he’ll be talking to them about all kinds of stuff!
‘It might just appeal to him’
“Just give him a phone call for goodness sake. Look he doesn’t need the money, and that (the Republic of Ireland job) might just appeal to him.
“You know just zip over from Manchester or Liverpool into Dublin however many times you’ve got to do it.
“The thing with Moyesey is, he would be absolutely full on. He can’t do a job that’s only 90 per cent, it’s got to be absolutely full on. And he’d be watching players that could possibly play for Ireland everywhere and going to all sorts of games because it’s no stone left unturned with him…
“He very much likes to be (hands-on). He does all the training, nearly all the coaching etc. You just don’t know (unless you ask the question), he can’t sit at home, there’s no way he can sit at home that’s just not him.
“It might appeal to him you know. Because he might look and say ‘You know what they’ve been kind of dormant for a while’ – for want of a better description – the Republic of Ireland team. So maybe he thinks ‘I can go in and sort this out a little bit’.
“It would be a coup, most definitely.”
