Max Kilman’s comments after Wolves defeat should fill West Ham fans with dread

Max Kilman’s comments after Wolves defeat should fill West Ham fans with dread. Max Kilman spoke out after West Ham United lost 1-0 to Wolves in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

West Ham signed Max Kilman from Wolves in the summer of 2024 for around £40 million. Max Kilman was outspoken during West Ham’s poor run of form earlier on in the season, and aimed numerous criticisms at previous Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui.

However, despite minimal improvements, Graham Potter hasn’t exactly moved the needle since taking over at the London Stadium. Kilman, 27, has been one of West Ham’s better players, but he still has the odd mistake in him. The way that he turned his back on the ball for Wolves’ goal at Molineux was concerning to say the least.

However, he is vital to the way that the Hammers play. He’s a hugely respected member of the squad.

Jean-Clair Todibo raved about his West Ham teammate Max Kilman earlier this season. That said, the former Wolves defender’s mindset can be questionable at times…

Max Kilman’s comments after Wolves will worry West Ham fans

The manner of the 1-0 defeat at Molineux concerned the Hammers fans.

Sure, it’s still very early days in Potter’s reign, but where is our new manager bounce? Every other club seems to get it!

If we delve deeper into West Ham’s problems right now though, it’s easy to see why Potter is struggling to get a tune out of his underperforming players.

Kilman spoke to WHUFC.com, and shared why he and his teammates lost the game on Tuesday night in the end:

“We definitely improved in the second half,” the 27-year-old said. “We had some good chances towards the end, but we didn’t start well enough in the first half and we conceded the goal, which meant we were always chasing the game from then on.

A slow start once again from the Hammers then, and it seems like this is becoming a bad habit for the players now.

Jarrod Bowen’s comments on Wolves defeat a concern as well. Hammers kipper Jarrod Bowen spoke out after our 1-0 loss up in the Black Country on Tuesday night. And Bowen reeled out the same old tired cliches once again:

“We have a game Saturday back at home [against Bournemouth], so [we need] a reaction from us. It’s important to bounce back and react with our fans onside as well.”

How about the players just go out there and put in a performance, rather than promising after every defeat they they ‘will bounce back’ next time around. There is clearly a mentality issue at West Ham right now, and Max Kilman’s comments haven’t done anything to dispel that notion.
