‘Lots of possibilities’ David Sullivan source delivers exciting news on further signings

David Sullivan source delivers exciting news on further West Ham signings. There’s exciting news for fans after conflicting reports West Ham’s transfer business could be done for the summer window. West Ham are widely regarded to have had their best transfer window ever. On paper at least. Eight signings have arrived at West Ham so far, the latest being Aaron Wan-Bissaka last week. Only two started in West Ham’s disappointing opening day defeat to Aston Villa.

Hammers fans saw enough to suggest that once the new players are integrated into the starting XI, the team will be very capable indeed. What was also clear, though, is that certain members of the West Ham old guard are no longer up to the required standard. Last week Hammers News exclusively revealed that West Ham could make as many as three more signings before the close of the window on August 30th. However, that depends entirely on whether two or three players can be offloaded.

Conflicting reports over West Ham’s window business. West Ham have been linked with the likes of Jhon Duran, Samu Omorodion, Tammy Abraham, Carlos Soler, Arnau Martinez and a host of others. But there have been conflicting reports from some quarters claiming the club’s business is done.

Many Hammers fans feel the team still further options up front and in midfield. It has been confirmed West Ham ideally want to bring in a young, pacy forward to compete with Niclas Fullkrug.

With the medium to long-term uncertainty over Lucas Paqueta and misgivings regarding the contribution of both James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek in open play, another midfielder is said to be on the agenda too.

Julen Lopetegui has reportedly spoken to fellow Spaniard Soler about joining him at the London Stadium. And PSG appeared to drop a big hint over Soler’s future at the weekend.

Despite rather inevitably scoring the winner for Villa over the Hammers on Saturday, Duran and Unai Emery sent West Ham mixed messages over his future. So what can Hammers fans expect in the final 11 days of the window?

The chance of further additions it seems.

Because a source close to majority owner David Sullivan has delivered some exciting news on further West Ham signings. Sean Whetstone says ‘lots of possibilities remain’ in the knockings of the window.

But – as Hammers News confirmed last week – fringe players must be offloaded first to free up squad space and room on the wage bill. And that’s not easy due to the large wages handed to those players to lure them to east London in the first place.

“West Ham are finding it difficult to offload players for the right price due to high wages they offered to attract them to become a Hammer,” Whetstone said.

“Two examples of this is Nayef Aguerd and Danny Ings.

Finishing touches still needed for ideal West Ham squad

After such a big window West Ham clearly want to compete for the European spots.

In order to do that, additional options will be needed up front and in midfield.

Particularly if Ings – and his £125k per week wages – can be offloaded. The owners and technical director Tim Steidten will undoubtedly realise that where further options are needed.

Hence the links to several strikers and the likes of Soler. Whether West Ham can add the cherry on top of a fantastic window now all depends on what matters for fringe players – money or game time elsewhere.
