Lopetegui makes approach for two new signings at West Ham, one is to replace Antonio – report

Julen Lopetegui has picked out Youssef En-Nesyri and Marcos Acuna as players he would sign should he become West Ham United manager, according to The Sun.

In a report by Andy Dillion (9 May), he has suggested that he is looking to take two players from former club Sevilla and has already sounded out deals by approaching with enquiries.

En-Nesyri is being considered as a potential striker replacement for Michail Antonio who is now 34 years old.

Acuna is also being looked at as additional cover and competition for Emerson, especially as Aaron Cresswell is out of contract in the summer.

Should West Ham United sign Youssef En-Nesyri?

There have been plenty of struggles at West Ham with strikers and them struggling to capture the imagination at the club.

This saw Gianluca Scamacca join ahead of last season but he departed for Atalanta after just 27 appearances under Moyes [FotMob].

Earlier on in the Scots’ reign as manager, Sebastien Haller signed for £45 million from Frankfurt [BBC] but he also struggled.

On the flip side, Antonio signed from Nottingham Forest back in September 2015 and has been a stalwart in that time. He has gone on to make over 300 appearances across a variety of positions but his 82 goals [FotMob].

The Hammers need to sign a striker and at some point, someone will break the curse and score goals as West Ham’s number nine.

The Moroccan international has scored 13 goals and assisted two in La Liga this season [FotMob] as the Spanish outfit sits in midtable.

At 26 years old he has plenty of room to grow as a player in the Premier League so could prove to be a great success.
