Liverpool fans will be losing their minds with rage after Premier League announcement ahead of West Ham clash. West Ham United will play host to Liverpool in the Premier League on December 29th.
The Premier League showdown on Sunday will be a vitally important one for both West Ham and Liverpool. Julen Lopetegui is under all sorts of pressure right now and could be sacked imminently if results don’t improve.
Meanwhile, Arne Slot is absolutely on fire at Anfield, and is in a great position to guide his side to the Premier League title in his debut campaign in England.
Liverpool are in fine form, and the way that they dispatched of Tottenham in north London on Sunday looked ominous for the Hammers.
However, all is not lost. We have shown that we can cause Liverpool problems in the past, and they have only won one out of their last three trips to the London Stadium.
Ahead of the match on Sunday, the Merseyside outfit have seemingly been dealt somewhat of a blow.
Liverpool fans fuming after Premier League announcement ahead of West Ham
The Hammers got a big result against Liverpool at the London Stadium last season, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw. I would take that again this time around every day of the week, and twice on a Sunday.
As unlikely as it might seem, perhaps we will have a chance of causing a big upset.
West Ham certainly have the players needed to hurt Liverpool, but we will have to defend a lot better than we have done this season in order to get a result.
Ahead of the game, some news has been announced that will make the Liverpool fans very angry indeed. The Premier League have announced that Anthony Taylor will referee the clash with Liverpool at London Stadium on December 29th.
To make matters worse for them, Darren England will be on VAR duty – the man who caused huge controversy back in September 2023 when he was on VAR duty for the Tottenham vs Liverpool clash.
Now, that news will not be greeted with much cheer from the Reds fans, far from it in fact.
However, it’s Anthony Taylor who Liverpool fans have been angry with on the most part of the years.
They have a long and checkered past with Mr Taylor.
Liverpool history with Anthony Taylor
Liverpool fans have protested strongly against Taylor refereeing their games on numerous occasions in the past, most recently back in April for their clash with Manchester United (Daily Mail).]
The Reds fans disdain for the 46-year-old refereeing their games stems from the fact that he is from the Greater Manchester area.
However, contrary to popular belief, Taylor is actually a fan of National League side Altrincham, rather than Manchester United or Manchester City, and has held a season ticket with them for many years.
Taylor has refereed more Liverpool games than any other club – 63. The Reds have lost 10 of those matches. The Reds fans have accused Taylor of being over zealous when it comes to dishing out yellow cards to their players as well – he’s handed out 112 bookings to Liverpool players in 63 games.
Despite the protestations from the Merseysiders, Taylor has given favourable decisions to them this season. During their clash with Arsenal back in October, Liverpool were on the right side of a couple of really big calls.
However, that won’t make them feel any better about him officiating what will be a huge game between West Ham and Liverpool on Sunday. Let’s hope that the Reds fans are even more angry after the game, but about the result rather than the referee.
