Lions vs. Chargers line, odds and predictions
Los Angeles Chargers walks to the tunnel prior to an NFL football game against the Chicago Bears at SoFi Stadium on October 29, 2023 in Inglewood, California.
The Los Angeles Chargers host the Detroit Lions on Sunday in what should be a fun back-and-forth between more-than-capable offenses. Searching for win No. 4 on the road, Jared Goff and his Lions enter a stadium he once called home as the small favorites.
Kickoff is set for 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The game will be televised on CBS.
These two teams in opposing conferences from different parts of the country don’t have much history. Yet, a lack of history doesn’t take away from what this game should be, an offensive battle fueled by quarterbacks Justin Herbert and Jared Goff.
Both teams are top 10 in the NFL in scoring offense. The Chargers, which are eighth with 25.1 points per game, are one spot ahead of the Lions at 25 points per game.
If an offensive shootout doesn’t materialize, it will likely be because of the Chargers’ defense. They’ve allowed 15 points per game in their four wins, compared to the 28.5 points per game given up across their four losses. Ditto for Detroit, which, at this point, likely isn’t only playing for the NFC North title but for a first-round bye. The Lions have surrendered an average of 15 points per game in its six victories this season while giving up 37 to the Seahawks and 38 to the Ravens in losses.
The Lions are 6-2 against the spread this season. They’ve covered the spread in every victory and failed to cover it in both losses.
