Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer are both in agreement that James Maddison could potentially present BBC’s Match of the Day in the future.
Maddison has had a huge impact for Spurs, instantly becoming one of the fulcrums of the side since arriving from Leicester City.
The 26-year-old, who has been voted August’s Player of the Month, has also emerged as one of the leaders of the dressing room and he has been able to develop a quick connection with the Spurs fans, partly owing to how he comes across in his interviews.
Could James Maddison present Match of the Day?
It is that characteristic that Shearer and Lineker have both noted, with the pair naming the Tottenham man when talking about the current footballers who could potentially do Lineker’s current job in the futur
Shearer said in The Rest Is Football podcast (as relayed by talkSPORT): “I think James Maddison because I think he talks really, really well.”
Lineker responded: “He’s very eloquent and he’s very good tactically. I think he’s the best of the players in the post-match interview.”
Lineker went on to current Premier League stars who could become presenters following their playing careers, with Ryan Sessegnon being one of the names mentioned.

From the current Spurs squad, Maddison certainly looks the most likely to become a pundit. I also can see Harry Winks getting a job in punditry once he hangs up his boots. I would not be surprised if Ben Davies and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg go into coaching.
