Leicester City: James Maddison and Wes Morgan react to Dewsbury-Hall great exploits

James Maddison and Wes Morgan have congratulated Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as he continues to celebrate Leicester City’s promotion back to the Premier League.

It was a turbulent pre-season for the Foxes last year as they prepared for life back in the second tier, and they were also under new management, as Enzo Maresca was named as the head coach.

The early signs were hugely positive, with Leicester running away with the league playing a stylish brand of football, and it even appeared possible that they could beat Reading’s points record at this level.

However, a stutter early this year allowed the chasing pack to catch up, but the Foxes got back on track in the past few weeks, as home victories against West Brom and Southampton put the club on the verge of promotion.

Leeds’ defeat to QPR would seal the deal, and Maresca’s men clinched the title on Monday night with a convincing win at Preston.

Now, they host Blackburn on the final day, knowing a win would put them on 100 points for the campaign.

The club held their awards night this week as well, so it’s been an eventful few days for all connected to Leicester – and Dewsbury-Hall in particular.

The midfielder has been outstanding this season, scoring 12 goals and registering 14 assists, which is why it came as no surprise that he was named as Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year.

And, taking to Instagram, Dewsbury-Hall shared images of the awards night, along with some of the celebrations at Deepdale, as he posted the ‘mind-blown’ emoji as he reflected on the memorable few days he has had.

That prompted responses from teammates past and present, with former favourite James Maddison and Leicester legend Wes Morgan both sending a round of applause to Dewsbury-Hall as they acknowledged his achievements this season, both from an individual perspective and a collective in this team.

Fans will no doubt be glad to see that the two players are still keeping an eye on events at the King Power Stadium, and Leicester will now come up against Maddison next season, with the England international currently with Tottenham.

Even though Dewsbury-Hall is clearly loving his time at Leicester, there is a worry that the Rovers game this weekend will be the last time he pulls on the blue shirt.

Leicester’s financial issues are well-known, and it’s claimed that they will need to raise funds by June 30 in order to comply with PSR.

As an academy graduate, Dewsbury-Hall would be the obvious sale to solve those issues, as he is sure to command a fee in excess of £30m, and it’s thought that both Brighton and Brentford are among the admirers of the player.

Yet, Dewsbury-Hall has made it clear that he wants to stay with Leicester, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the next two months, in what could be a hectic period for the newly-promoted side.
