Kane will not ‘hesitate’ to stay at Spurs if Bayern fail to grant him one ‘wish’ as ‘new detail’ emerges

If Spurs striker Harry Kane starts the first match of the season against Brentford then it’s likely he will stay for another year, according to German football expert Christian Falk.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been battling all summer to keep his star player with the England captain entering the final year of his contract in north London.

It has now become clear that Kane ideally wants to leave Spurs this summer with Bayern Munich the only club currently showing serious interest in the 30-year-old. There have been reports that Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are ‘considering’ a bid to sign Kane this summer after they failed in their attempts to land Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Kane wants his future sorted before the first game of the season against Brentford on August 13, leaving Bayern Munich around ten days to agree a fee with Tottenham The main stumbling block so far has been Spurs’ £100m asking price with Bayern only currently willing to reach €100m (£86m) for the England international.

Their latest offer was for €95m with €10m of that fee coming in the form of add-ons and Falk claims it is “Kane’s wish that Tottenham receive a large fee for him”.

Falk wrote in his Caught Offside column: “I love my job, especially during the transfer window. You spend your time looking at the routes of private planes on the internet, as reporters, who want to be really close to the news, are already standing at the fence of the airport when the plane carrying the player and his representatives lands.

“It was the same with the Bayern bosses’ flight to London, who travelled to the UK for their poker game with Tottenham regarding Harry Kane. When the bosses landed back in Munich in the aftermath of their London adventure, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen was smiling.

“On Monday, Bayern made their second offer to Tottenham for Kane during their talks. The Bavarian club offered €85million and an additional €10m in bonuses. Bayern are willing to reach the €100m mark if needs be, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy still wants 100m in pounds, plus add-ons. Bayern have once again made it clear that they want Kane, and the England international wants to move to Munich.
“A new detail that has emerged from this high-stakes game of poker, that is really interesting: it is Harry Kane’s wish that Tottenham receive a large fee for him. That would make it easier for the striker to say goodbye to the club that has given him a lot over his career.
“Daniel Levy is aware that Kane will not renew under any circumstances this summer, with one year left on his current contract. The Englishman wouldn’t hesitate to play another season at Spurs and continue to expand his legendary status; however, after that, he will leave Tottenham in search of titles, which needs to be added to his great career.
“At Bayern, if they can not secure a deal this summer, they are certain that Kane will keep his word and come to Munich in 2024. It is always a possibility, however, that a financially strong club could hijack the deal.
“For Tottenham, the scenario ultimately doesn’t matter. Whether it be this summer or the next, Spurs will lose Harry Kane. The only decision that is in their hands is whether the superstar leaves for a large transfer fee or for free in 2024.
“The pressure on Tottenham is growing as the start of their Premier League campaign begins on August 13 against Brentford and the player would like to be at Bayern. “If Kane lines up for that game against Brentford, it is likely that he tells Levy that he is staying and going to see out the rest of the season.”
