West Ham United stance on Jhon Duran transfer shared as Niclas Fullkrug nears switch. West Ham United have not “completely given up” on signing Jhon Duran before the transfer deadline despite developments at the London Stadium, according to Alex Crook.
The talkSPORT journalist reported on Sunday (4 August, 14:50) that while the Hammers are closing in on the signings of Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez, they still remain interested in the Aston Villa man.
So far, the two clubs have been unable to agree a fee for the Colombian international, but Julen Lopetegui’s side remain in the race for his signature as he’s linked with a Villa Park exit.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Crook said: “Both those deals [Fullkrug and Rodriguez] should get done.
“They’ve not completely given up on Jhon Duran at Aston Villa either despite that fact that so far they have not been able to agree a fee, so keep an eye on that one.”

If West Ham somehow manage to sign both Fullkrug and Duran, they will have massively bolstered their attacking options ahead of the new season, but that isn’t going to be easy or cheap to do.
Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have already spent plenty of money in the transfer window on several new recruits and it would certainly come as a shock if they were to fork out yet another big-money fee for Duran.
However, with concerns around the age of Fullkrug, Duran would offer a more youthful presence at the top end of the field and his style could potentially compliment the German international if they were played together.
As Crook suggests, this is one to keep an eye on between now and the end of the transfer window but it feels as though Villa will still need to lower their asking price if there is a deal to be struck in the next month or so.
