Jurgen Klopp has now inspired Tottenham Hotspur supporters to call for a 2019 Champions League final replay.
The last few days have been complete chaos after Tottenham’s 2-1 home win over Liverpool.
Tottenham’s last-minute winner through a Joel Matip own goal has been overshadowed by controversial events earlier in the game.
Curtis Jones was given a straight red card in the first half before Diogo Jota picked up a red card of his own after the break.
The big moment was in the first half though as Luis Diaz had a superb goal incorrectly ruled out due to a breakdown in communication with the VAR team.
Jurgen Klopp comments on Liverpool VAR drama
Tottenham went onto win the game and Liverpool are furious, demanding that the audio the VAR communication to be made public.
That audio highlighted the frankly terrible communication breakdown, but there was nothing more sinister in there.
Liverpool still aren’t happy though and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has now escalated the matter.
Klopp has told Sky Sports that the only reasonable outcome in his eyes is to replay the game.
The Premier League are surely unlikely to go down that route but Klopp has made his full thoughts public.
Tottenham would absolutely object to that idea, especially as Liverpool were down to 10 men at the time of the Diaz incident, and Spurs fans have been poking fun at the Reds boss.
Jan Vertonghen joins in with Tottenham jokes
Tottenham supporters have been suggesting that, if Klopp wants to replay games for bad refereeing decisions, then the 2019 Champions League final should be one of them.
Liverpool won a very early penalty in that game with Moussa Sissoko very harshly penalised for a handball.
Spurs fans haven’t let that go and having suggested to replay the game, ex-Tottenham ace Jan Vertonghen has joined in.
The Belgian featured in that game in Madrid and experienced heartbreak as Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory.
Vertonghen simply stated ‘count me in’, noting that he would be well up for replaying that game if Klopp wants to open that can of worms.
