Irony as Spurs rush to make signing of Antonio Nusa amid panic after West Ham hijack

Irony as Spurs rush to make signing of Antonio Nusa amid panic after West Ham hijack There’s no lack of irony as Spurs rush to make the signing of Antonio Nusa amid panic after West Ham hijack.

There’s not much love lost between West Ham and rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

So a January transfer window story that’s unfolding makes for very interesting reading indeed.

With just one place separating Spurs and West Ham in the Premier League table and European places up for grabs, Ange Postecoglou and David Moyes will be very much keeping one eye on one another’s business.

Tottenham took that to another level last week by suddenly going after Antonio Nusa – a player being heavily scouted by West Ham technical director Tim Steidten.

Irony as Spurs rush to make signing

We reported on Hammers News that Spurs had launched a bid to hijack a West Ham move for wonderkid Nusa.

West Ham had been linked with Club Brugge’s Norwegian sensation, who has been compared to Neymar – as per The Athletic.

But Tottenham Hotspur accelerated their interest in order to try and beat West Ham to Nusa this month.

Fabrizio Romano then claimed the north Londoners had jumped ahead of the Hammers in the race for the attacking starlet.

That has forced West Ham to look elsewhere with Ibrahim Osman and Jota being targeted.

Now it seems Tottenham may be getting a taste of their own medicine.

The irony is clear as Spurs rush to make the signing of Nusa amid panic after their West Ham hijack.

Because according to TeamTALK, Chelsea are trying to do to Tottenham what they did to West Ham and hijack the move for Nusa.

Ange gets taste of his own medicine?

The report claims Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is hoping he can get all elements of the deal agreed on Thursday as Chelsea try to muscle in.

“Talks are progressing for Tottenham to sign Norwegian left winger Antonio Nusa and the club hope they can get all details agreed by the end of play today, sources have told TEAMtalk…” the report states.

“There is a risk of a hijack, though, and that is why they are pushing to get the deal done.

“Chelsea have been huge admirers of Nusa and have discussed him as a potential target for this window, while Newcastle have also been recently linked. However, Chelsea are not keen to put themselves in a difficult position with FFP and won’t move until player sales are completed.

“This has left Tottenham with the upper hand and they are doing all they can to take advantage and win the race for the 18-year-old.”

What’s the old saying? What goes around comes around.

If Spurs do land Nusa it is claimed he won’t join the club until the summer.
