Injury expert thinks Tottenham star will miss West Ham clash on Saturday

Injury expert thinks Tottenham star will miss West Ham clash on Saturday

Richarlison is pushing to be fit in time for the West Ham game this weekend, but injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar has suggested we should not get our hopes up for the Brazilian’s recovery just yet.

    Richarlison is back in training

Injury issues have severely hampered Richarlison‘s time at Tottenham, and the latest setback has disrupted his season before it even got going.

Having struggled with a calf injury for around six weeks now, there has been renewed optimism that the Brazilian will be back fairly soon.

Last week, Paul O’Keefe suggested there is a belief around the club that Richarlison will take part in training this week ahead of the West Ham game on Saturday afternoon.

That would be a major boost for Ange Postecoglou‘s plans, with the Spurs boss having to rely solely on Dominic Solanke in attack of late, with youngster Will Lankshear the only other recognised striker available for selection.

Richarlison might not be ready just yet

However, it all depends on how well Richarlison takes to his return to training this week, and the club is not expected to rush him back and risk a further setback.

Now, according to Dr Rajpal Brar for Tottenham News, the 27-year-old may need a little more time before he is ready to join the matchday squad.

Brar said: “It’s difficult to say if he’s on track to return right after the break as it all depends on what’s going on behind the scenes.

“Based on what Ange said on September 19 – stop asking until I give an update – I imagine that he’s still somewhat away from returning from what seems to be a serious concern. Unless he’s back in training over the coming days, I think he’s likely to miss the next game.”

    Richarlison will make the bench

Erring on the side of caution makes sense for Richarlison’s recovery, as the last thing the club or the player needs is another injury popping up now.

Still, by the sounds of his plans for this week in returning to training, and the fact he was out on the grass last week, I would posit that Richarlison will end up on the bench on Saturday, and maybe get a very brief run out in the last five or ten minutes.
