West Ham United: Sky pundit slams ‘immensely dislikeable’ Lucas Paqueta
Matt Scott dubbed West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta “immensely dislikeable” as England lost 1-0 to Brazil at Wembley Stadium on Saturday (23 March).
The midfielder was inches away from opening the scoring for the Brazilians, hammering Jordan Pickford’s post in the first half, but was also a nuisance for Gareth Southgate’s side on the night.
Though Paqueta picked up a yellow card for his antics, Scott was unhappy with the West Ham star, who finished the match on six fouls and could have been sent off by a different referee.
Taking to X on Saturday (23 March), the Sky News pundit wrote: “Lucas Paquetà is immensely dislikeable.”

When it comes to international football, all club-level allegiances are usually thrown out the window, and war means war. And even though it was only a friendly fixture, Paqueta has caused quite the stir.
Of course, fans want their players to be protected, but the West Ham man is also one of the more fouled players in the Premier League because of his silky skills and ability on the ball.
On another night, possibly in a competitive match, the 26-year-old may have been sent for an early shower, but the same could be said for Jude Bellingham, who was booked for a tough challenge on Bruno Guimaraes.
Though Paqueta racked up a high number of fouls, the majority were niggly challenges, attempting to stop any England attacks, rather than aiming to hurt anyone.

The Three Lions players will not see it that way, obviously, having wanted to win both friendly fixtures against Brazil and Belgium, but a red card probably would have taken all the sting out of the match that thousands of people came to watch.
Paqueta may have been a nuisance but the midfielder is a magician on the pitch, bringing so much joy to Hammers fans since arriving at the London Stadium in August 2022.
