“I’m still up to it” – Player leaving West Ham ready for new adventures, agents on the case

“I’m still up to it” – Player leaving West Ham ready for new adventures, agents on the case.

Angelo Ogbonna will finally cut ties with West Ham United at the end of this month, after a long period with the club.

He arrived from Juventus in 2015, and went on to make more than 200 appearances for the Hammers. That makes him the Italian with the second most appearances in the Premier League.

Throughout his early years in London, the Italian media repeatedly reported potential returns to Serie A. As remains the case to this day, the country’s media never really accept that someone has left Italy and can still be content with their lot.

Ogbonna, though, clearly was, but with his contract expiring this summer and no renewal for the 36-year-old, it was time to finally part ways.

The defender has been speaking to the Italian media, and one of the first questions he was asked – of course – is whether his West Ham exit means he’s returning to Italy.

Gianluca Di Marzio quotes the player as saying: “I want to continue naturally, I’m still up to it. Then it will be up to me to prove it. I still have fuel in my legs. My agents are working towards this. Return to Italy? I leave all doors open. Then what comes… I will make a thoughtful choice, as all my choices have been in my career. I will choose what to do.”
