‘I love London’: Midfielder reacts when asked if he’d like to sign for West Ham

When asked about a potential move to West Ham United, one of the finest midfielders in the Championship admitted that he does indeed harbour a Premier League ‘dream’.

But that does not mean he has no choice but to pack his bags and change post-codes in order to turn it into a reality.

Despite a spate of four successive draws, Hull City remain seventh in the Championship. Just three points shy of Norwich City in the final play-off spot. Given the talent at Liam Rosenior’s disposal – an attack of Fabio Carvalho, Anass Zaroury and Jaden Philogene would make most second-tier bosses green with envy – you’d be a fool to write of The Tigers even in the midst of an untimely winless run.

Hull have another potential matchwinner in their ranks, too, in the shape of experienced, 65-cap Turkey international Ozan Tufan. Only three midfielders in the second-tier have more than his eight goals from 18 starts.

Ozan Tufan responds to West Ham poser

So, when the subject of a potential move to West Ham United was brought up during an interview with Turkish publication Sporx, Tufan was keen to point out that – while the chance to live it up in London holds a lot of appeal – his top priority is ensuring that Hull will be joining David Moyes’ side in the first division come 2024/25.

“I love London very much,” Tufan explains when asked by Sporx reporter how he’d respond if West Ham came knocking. “It is a place I enjoy very much. During my time at Watford, I used to go there all the time after training.

“Let’s see (what the future holds). I have a dream. But, if I go (to the Premier League) with Hull, it will give me even more pleasure.”

Hull City still in with a shot at the Premier League

As things stand, there is nothing to suggest that there is any interest from West Ham in the former Fenerbahce man. Tufan, having managed only seven appearances during a forgettable loan spell with Watford in 2021/22 however, understandably feels as if he has unfinished business at English football’s top table.

HITC Football, meanwhile, understands that Hull are likely to face a battle hanging onto Philogene whatever league they find themselves in. Aston Villa have a £15 million buy-back clause in the winger’s contract.
