‘I don’t like…’ – Pundit wants ‘better football’ from West Ham despite unbeaten start to season

PUNDIT WANTS ‘BETTER FOOTBALL’ FROM WEST HAM UNITED DESPITE UNBEATEN START TO NEW SEASON

Frank McAvennie wants to see West Ham United playing better football, despite the club being unbeaten this season.

The Hammers currently sit joint-second in the Premier League table, just two points off leaders and defending champions Manchester City.

David Moyes’s men drew their season opener 1-1 at Bournemouth, and have since beaten Chelsea, Brighton and Luton Town

The East London outfit, who have 10 points, have scored nine goals so far in the new campaign, conceding on four occasions.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “They’re scoring goals. Antonio is on fire. Whatever way Moyes has sat him down and said ‘This is how we’re going to play,’ and it might be the system that he is wanting, but they are defending for their lives at the moment and hitting teams on the counter-attack.

“It’s alright because they’re winning, and fans will take it. But I don’t like the way they have played. It’s a personal opinion. I’m delighted they are winning, but I would love to see them playing better football.

“It’s working. The statistics don’t lie. West Ham are sitting and soaking up the punishment. It’s great to get the wins, but they’ve got better players than that I think. But again, it’s only a personal opinion, because the fans are loving it, the fact that they are winning.”

Up next for the Hammers after the international break is a Premier League clash with Manchester City, quickly followed by a Europa League group stage meeting with Backa Topola.

In other West Ham news, a journalist has shared a “surprise” Hammers top-four verdict as a “define the narrative” claim is made.
