‘He could come back’: Micah Richards thinks player who left Tottenham could return after Euro horror show

Several Tottenham Hotspur players paid the price for their poor end to the 2023/24 Premier League season.

It was probably a surprise because the London club started like a house on fire under their new manager Ange Postecoglou.

After ten Premier League games, not only were Spurs playing the best football in the country, but they were also top of the Premier League table.

It was even better considering many were tipping the team to struggle once Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich.

Even Paul Merson was forced to eat his words and he changed his mind about Tottenham as the recently-concluded campaign wore on.

But they can’t deny that they ended it poorly, missed out on Champions League football and finished fifth.

That is why Spurs had no representation for Gareth Southgate’s final 26-man England squad, James Maddison was axed for the Euro 2024 squad.

But he didn’t miss out on much because, the Three Lions did reach the final, but they were beyond abject all summer long.

England were deservedly beaten in the final by Spain and their star man, captain and main striker, Kane, was hauled off after an hour.

It was a horror show all tournament long from the Munich hitman, as he played like he was carrying an injury and looked like a stranger out on the pitch.

Gary Lineker defended the 30-year-old’s performances, with Micah Richards suggesting that ‘he could come back’ to the Premier League, as he told The Rest is Football.

Harry Kane returning to the Premier League

“Normally his brain is a step ahead,” said Richards to which Lineker responded: “It still is. He is also an unbelievably good finisher and that you don’t lose.”

Lineker then shared how Kane is ‘the all-time leading goalscorer for England’ and ‘he would have beaten Alan Shearer’s record quite comfortably if he had stayed in the Premier League’. Richards interrupted by saying: “He might come back.”

Richards then asked: “How many goals have you got, Alan?” The Newcastle legend responded by swearing and saying ‘loads’.

Gareth Southgate’s style has killed Harry Kane

Class is permanent and Kane should be trusted to lead the line for England ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Gareth Southgate has quit his post as England manager and now Kane better pray that an attacking manager enters the building.

These defensive-minded coaches are ruining him because, if the FA bring in another coach of that ilk, then Kane’s international career will be over sooner than he thinks.

He needs a coach who pushes the team high up the pitch, not making him defend on the edge of his own box, and then everyone will see those goals roll in.
