Harry Kane prepared to sign new Tottenham deal in huge boost for Daniel Levy

Harry Kane is reportedly prepared to sign a new contract at Tottenham – if a move to Bayern Munich collapses this summer.

Spurs have rejected two offers from the German champions thus far and are hoping to land £100m to part ways with their all-time record goal scorer.

It is thought that Thomas Tuchel’s side will launch a third bid worth £85m and the England captain was believed to be keen on a transfer to the Bundesliga side.

However, according to reports, Kane has now made it clear that he if is still a Spurs player by August 13, he is ready to sign a new deal at the club. It is claimed that Kane feels it would be unfair on new head coach Ange Postecoglou to leave after Spurs’ opening Premier League game of the season.

The news is a huge boost to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who is desperate to keep hold of the 30-year-old amid intense transfer speculation this summer.

Kane has less than a year left on his current deal and Bayern remain confident of landing his signature.

But they must significantly increase their offer for Kane and also include a buy-back clause for Spurs to consider a sale.

Kane was linked to Manchester United earlier in the window but the Red Devils were not willing to meet Tottenham’s £100m asking price.

Levy then came close to reaching an agreement with Paris-Saint Germain to sell Kane to the French champions – but the Englishman snubbed the Ligue 1 side.

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been left sweating over Harry Kane’s future at the club and admits that he is ‘now relaxed’ amid transfer interest.

Postecoglou left Scottish club Celtic to take charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer as he looks to improve on Spurs’ dismal 2022-23 campaign which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League and without a trophy.

Things could get worse for Tottenham if they lose their all-time record goalscorer Kane this summer, who has been linked with an exit from north London and has just one year left on his current contract amid interest from various other clubs.

German champions Bayern Munich have seen two bids rejected for Kane while there has also been interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid – a trio of foreign clubs looking to tempt Daniel Levy into a sale – as it is believed the Spurs chairman does not want to sell directly to a Premier League rival.

Amid all the transfer talk, Postecoglou is worried over Kane’s future and said: ‘Fair to say I am not relaxed about it!

‘It’s not something you go, ‘Ah, well, you know if it does or doesn’t happen’ – I mean [he] is a very important part of this football club, not just the team, but the football club.

‘He is such a massive figure, and as I have said already, whilst my focus isn’t on it on a daily basis because I’ve got other things I need to do, I know that every time I am talking to you guys, or whenever Harry is going to talk, that’s the first question you are going to get.

‘So, you’ve got to deal with it, and I think, for everyone concerned, we don’t want to be doing it for too long. I don’t think that is good for anyone.

‘I don’t think it is good for Harry, I don’t think it is good for the club, because as laser focused as we want to be, you end up sort of repeating yourself along the way. ‘But the flip side of that is I don’t want to put a deadline on it, because that adds even more pressure. You want these things to happen for the right reasons.

‘The reality of it is he’s still a contracted player at our football club, so that’s the way I see him. It’s not like his contract is ending on the 12th [of August] and he’s got to make a decision, he’s got another year.

‘So from that part, I am not relaxed but I am not putting pressure on him or anyone else at the football club, saying, ‘Well we need to do this’ – but I don’t think deep down any of us want it to go on for too long.’
