One West Ham player stole the show for his country during a dramatic international break fixture late last night.
It has been an absolutely disastrous international break for West Ham so far, with Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen suffering injuries.
Mohammed Kudus has allegedly picked up a back injury as well, and all round, it has been an absolute shocker for the club.
I guess that’s what happens when a club like the Hammers elevates itself to another level. There are more internationals present now at the London Stadium than there have ever been before.
And David Moyes will just have to accept that some of his players will pick up knocks, due to the sheer volume of games that they’re being forced to play.
However, one of our internationals enjoyed a magical evening whilst playing for his country last night and on into the early hours of this morning…
West Ham star steals show during international break
Mexico took on Honduras at the famous Azteca Stadium, having trailed 2-0 from the first-leg in the quarter-final of the CONCACAF Nations League.
And Edson Alvarez stole the show for Mexico by scoring a dramatic late goal, to take the clash into extra-time, before ‘El Tri’ won on penalties to progress through to the semi-finals.
Wow that is some atmosphere inside the Azteca, and it was nice to see things going well for a West Ham player during the international break!
The last week or so has been absolutely shocking for the Hammers. Moyes will be absolutely gutted to have lost Antonio through injury, and maybe Bowen and Kudus as well.
Hopefully Alvarez’s match-winning strike was a good omen for the Hammers though, and maybe our luck will begin to change now.
Mexico progressing through to the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League will be a big boost for the 26-year-old Hammer, and hopefully he’ll bring that confidence and feel-good factor back to Rush Green.
Because after the past week that we’ve had, we need something to cheer up everyone involved with the club!
