Arsenal executives are clearly happy with what Mikel Arteta is doing at the Emirates after giving him a new deal, but there appears to be one thing they want to be different.
When speaking on ESPN UK, James Olley revealed what Arsenal executives told him in pre-season they wanted Arteta’s side to improve on.
“I spent some time with Arsenal in pre-season, spent some time with some of the players and some of the executives.
“One of the areas that they really feel like they need to improve upon, they keep talking about they want their worst level to be better.”
Martin Odegaard’s injury piles pressure on Arsenal
Martin Odegaard is set to be out until around November after suffering an injury whilst on international duty with Norway.
The midfielder’s absence has seen Kai Havertz drop out of his position at the pinnacle of the attack, which hasn’t gone too well.
Havertz was very ineffective last night against Atalanta, losing possession ten times, having fewer touches than David Raya and failing to win 13 duels.
Mikel Arteta now has a big decision to make ahead of Manchester City.
There is Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard who can operate in the 10 role, but the former lacks experience and Arteta could opt for Jorginho instead to be a bit more defensive.
