Glenn Hoddle has praised James Maddison for being the ‘difference’ for Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur this season.
The 26-year-old secured a summer transfer from Leicester City to Tottenham Hotspur in a move that fans from the north London club were crying out for.
And it’s fair to say that James Maddison hasn’t disappointed, with Spurs sitting second in the Premier League table, with their only blip coming during that 4-1 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night.
Glenn Hoddle spoke about how James Maddison is an ‘unusual’ player and the ever-growing partnership he has built up with captain, Son Heung-min, as he told Premier League Productions (06/11/23 at 7:35 pm).
From the England star’s 11 Premier League games, he has three goals and five assists to his name, not forgetting that he went off early on Monday night.
Either way, James Maddison has a fan in Spurs legend Glenn Hoddle, who also spoke about what he has added to his game since moving to the club.

“He brings that difference,” said Hoddle. “Some players they make the difference. This is what this kid has got. He had it as a kid and he has continued it at a higher level.
“He has got this little bit of play with Son as well. They seem to read each other really well.
“He is unusual and I like what he has added to his game. He wants it to feet most of the time, but at the right time, he will make that blind-sided run off the ball, and then he is getting his goals as well. He is assisting. Getting goals and it couldn’t have got any better for Maddison in a Spurs shirt. And it’s lovely to see Tottenham playing with a number ten.”

Spurs fans will be hoping their star playmaker is fit to play at the weekend against Wolves or even ready to perform after the international break.
It’s obvious that Micky van de Ven, who picked up a hamstring injury against Chelsea, is probably out for the long term – it has been claimed that it could be ‘months’.
But this seems to be damage limitations. Postecoglou can’t do anything about Cristian Romero’s suspension or even Destiny Udogie’s.
But if Maddison is back on the pitch as soon as possible, then at least Tottenham’s attack is still at its 100% best.
