West Ham United to get Kurt Zouma ‘off the books’ as medical update emerges. Frank McAvennie has urged West Ham to get a deal done quickly to sell Kurt Zouma before the transfer window shuts on 30 August.
The 29-year-old centre-back has passed his medical ahead of a move to Al-Orobah in the Saudi Pro League, according to Yallakora, with the player set to join on loan with a mandatory buy clause [Fabrizio Romano]. While the deal looks all but announced for Zouma, McAvennie is in no mood to wait around after the Frenchman’s failed move to Shabab Al-Ahli due to medical history issues [The Times].
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “They’ve got to get him off the books before someone finds out about his dodgy knees. He failed a medical in Dubai before but I think they’ll still get a few years out of him. He’ll be good enough for the Saudi League for the next two or three years.
“I thought he’d be good enough for the league in Dubai. I don’t know what’s up with him, but I wish him all the best. For me, he wasn’t the centre-half I wanted at West Ham, that’s for sure.” Kurt Zouma nears West Ham United exit after completed medical. The former Chelsea man has not been involved so far this season, at least not after being spotted with heavy strapping around his knees following a pre-season friendly.
Keeping Zouma at the club would only be a negative thing for the Hammers, with the former captain taking up a wage as he likely sits on the bench for the rest of the season, so the club must get a deal done for the player before the transfer window slams shut.
