Gary Neville reacts to late West Ham transfer announcement, Potter will be happy

Gary Neville reacts to West Ham United transfer developments. Gary Neville feels West Ham United will have a real threat after signing Evan Ferguson.

The Manchester United icon believes the Hammers’ forward line will be menacing with Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and the Ireland international as the number nine. Neville believes Graham Potter will be excited about the Irons’ prospects after the 20-year-old signed on loan from Brighton in the winter window.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Gary Neville Podcast (3 February), the former defender said: “You’ve got a threat. “You’ve got Lucas Paqueta, obviously, to come back as well. You’ve got a real threat. You’ve got people who can feed them as well.

Evan Ferguson transfer adds quality to West Ham United attack

Ferguson will play a key role for the East London club until the end of the season due to the current fitness issues in the final third.

Potter has been unable to rely on Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio, who have been sidelined for a considerable period. Bowen only returned to the starting side against Chelsea and scored in the Hammers’ 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge on Monday (3 February).

West Ham have had to use Lucas Paqueta and Kudus as their number nine recently, making Ferguson’s arrival even more important. While the Irish striker has been underwhelming this season after battling injuries, the London Stadium faithful will hope Potter can bring the best out of him.

The potential attacking options at the Irons are exciting, but it remains to be seen whether the former Brighton boss will be able to fit everyone in his system.

With the English head coach seemingly insistent on playing a back three, some forwards and midfielders might find limited game time in the coming months. In other West Ham news, Potter will be fuming after a controversy against Chelsea.
