Gary Lineker cuts off MOTD pundit after what he said about West Ham ace v Palace. Gary Lineker cut off Ashley Williams as he was talking about West Ham ace Lukasz Fabianksi on Match of the Day.
The Hammers fell to their first Premier League defeat under Graham Potter at the London Stadium as Crystal Palace ran out 2-0 winners. The Poland international brought down Eddie Nketiah in the penalty area in the 87th minute and Jean-Philippe Mateta converted from the spot kick.
MOTD pundit Williams was discussing the incident (18 December, 11:38 pm), saying: “I’m sure Lukas Fabianski will be a bit disappointed it snuck in.”
Lineker then interrupted, saying: “We’re out of time sorry, Ashley.”
West Ham need to upgrade their goalkeepers
The Hammers need to upgrade their goalkeeper department, whether that comes in the winter transfer window or the summer remains to be seen. Fabianski took over from Alphonse Areola after the 4-1 loss to Tottenham in October with Julen Lopetegui axing the Frenchman after that performance.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star had conceded 15 goals in eight Premier League matches and he shipped five goals when he returned in the loss to Liverpool on 29 December.
Lukasz Fabiański is a West Ham United veteran
The 39-year-old Poland international has not fared much better, conceding 20 goals in 13 league appearances and keeping just three clean sheets.
If Potter is to turn the Irons around and salvage the season, he needs more clean sheets from his men between the sticks if his side are to climb up the table.
That may lead to the East London club overhauling their goalkeeping department in the next few transfer windows given Fabianski’s age and Areola’s poor form.
In other West Ham news, a transfer twist involving Manchester City could impact the Hammers’ ability toget a deal done.
