‘For sure’: Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham are monitoring £60m forward who Pep Guardiola hailed ‘incredible’

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to keep their summer spending going having made the move to bring Archie Gray in this week.

Improvements are going to be needed for Ange Postecoglou as he faces a season in the Europa League which is now under a new format with an increased schedule.

Spurs showed big signs of improvement under the Australian last season and have made a proactive start to the summer when it comes to outgoings.

After offloading the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon, Tottenham have now made their first sale of the summer with Joe Rodon.

But having signed Archie Gray, Spurs are said to be eyeing their next potential summer addition with a player already playing in the Premier League.

Tottenham eyeing Premier League forward this summer

Having experienced a full season without Harry Kane in the squad, Postecoglou will be looking to address his frontline this summer.

Richarlison became Tottenham’s starting striker but the Brazilian suffered a season of injury setbacks and proved incredibly unreliable in terms of availability.

This left the majority of the responsibility up top with Heung-min Son who epitomized the versatile style of forward which Spurs have recruited over the years.

And this summer could see Spurs look to bring in another winger despite having the glaring issue in the middle without a reliable out and out striker.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs are still in the picture when it comes to a potential move for Pedro Neto.

“Pedro Neto and Spurs is one of the names they have on their list, for sure,” he said.

“The only doubt has been on injuries. So that is the point to clarify on Pedro Neto, but he’s one of the players who they do appreciate.”

Wolves are said to be open to the potential summer sale of their Portuguese winger but they would be holding out for a fee in the region of £60m.

Tottenham have Pedro Neto among other options

Tottenham are also said to be eyeing the likes of Eberechi Eze and Desire Doue this summer who could provide alternative options to the Wolves winger.

However, the glaring void in the Tottenham squad currently is their lack of options when it comes to striker.

Of course, Son has shown he can do a job through the middle after returning 14 goals last season from that position.

But there were clear instances where the South Korean looked like he was struggling towards the back end of the campaign with Spurs missing a real focal point through the middle.

Although Neto is an exciting player who Pep Guardiola labeled “incredible“, Spurs are stacked in that position currently and perhaps that money could be better spent on bringing in a quality striker.
