Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Brennan Johnson, as Nottingham Forest reportedly need to raise funds to satisfy Financial Fair Play regulations.
As we head into the final week of the transfer window, there could still be plenty of activity when it comes to Tottenham. A number of players are expected to be moved on this summer, while certain positions still require reinforcement.
Ever since Harry Kane departed the club and joined Bayern Munich earlier this month, speculation linking Spurs with an array of attacking talent has intensified.
The North London club are thought to be looking at younger players to bolster their forward line, and Nottingham Forest star, Brennan Johnson, has been touted as a potential target for Spurs.
Forest may need to sell Brennan Johnson
While Johnson may be something of a hero at Forest after leading the club to promotion to the Premier League, and then helping them stay in the division last season, it seems the 22-year-old may have to leave.
That’s according to sources at Football Insider, as it is revealed Forest are struggling to balance their books after spending big last year. Apparently, Tottenham are now in “pole position” to sign Johnson this summer. It is thought Forest have FFP “concerns” and hope that a “club-record departure” for Johnson can help them get back on track financially.
It is looking increasingly likely that we will sign Brennan Johnson now, and he is certainly an exciting talent to add to our squad. You would assume he will be a bit of an understudy to Heung-min Son for now, with a view to eventually succeeding the captain when his time comes to move on.
