Tottenham are now open to selling Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this transfer window, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Danish midfielder has found it hard to get a start under Ange Postecoglou, who has preferred the likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr over him.
It has been said that the Australian does not think that the player’s style of play, fits the sort of football he wants his players to play.
Although, not his preferred choice, he has still made 20 appearances for Spurs, most of them from the bench. But whenever he has been called upon, he has been solid.
With the player seeking more regular playing time, he is open to a move and has even reportedly hired a lawyer/agent in order expedite an exit.
Spurs too are keen to allow him to leave but as per Romano, they are only looking for a permanent deal, or a loan with an obligation to buy. They do not want a straight loan deal for him.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, he shared the following update:
“The plan for Tottenham has always been the same. Hojberg’s situation is strange because Tottenham have always been clear in both the summer transfer window and winter market that they are quite open to letting him go because they know the player wants to try a new opportunity. This is the reality.”
“Hojbjerg would like to have a new club and a chance elsewhere where he can be an important player. Tottenham want a permanent transfer and want important money for Hojbjerg. So, it could be a loan with an obligation to buy, it could be a permanent deal, but they don’t want to accept a straight loan for an important player like Hojbjerg.”
Newcastle are the latest club to have shown eagerness to sign him but on a loan deal. Several clubs, including Juventus and Napoli, have also shown interest in securing the midfielder’s services but have failed to come to an agreement with Spurs due to their asking price.
With just a few days left in the window to shut, it remains to be seen whether a deal can be agreed for the defensively solid midfielder.
