Roy Keane blown away by ‘solid’ Tomas Soucek as ‘excellent’ West Ham United verdict shared live on Sky Sports
It is “excellent” for West Ham United that they have a goalscoring midfielder in Tomas Soucek, according to Roy Keane.
The Sky Sports pundit shared the verdict ahead of the club’s clash with Crystal Palace at the London Stadium on Sunday (3 December).
The Czech Republic international had scored five goals in his last five matches for club and country before the match against the Eagles.
“If you’ve got a midfielder scoring goals – excellent,” Keane said live on Sky Sports Main Event, as quoted by BBC Sport. “I’ve always liked him, a good solid professional. The fact he can get you goals is a huge bonus.”
Superb form
Soucek certainly had a dip in form after his brilliant start to life in claret and blue, but he now looks back to his best, and importantly for Moyes the player is scoring some huge goals.
That includes late winners against the likes of Nottingham Forest and Burnley in the Premier League, and Backa Topola in the Europa League.
He really is a key player for David Moyes, who can rely on the midfield ace for crunching tackles and inch-perfect interceptions along with his goals.
The Czech Republic ace has formed a strong midfield at the London Stadium alongside the likes of summer signings James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez, much to the relief of West Ham fans who would have been fearing the worst after the sale of Declan Rice.
Losing the England international was, of course, a huge blow, but the form of Soucek has helped the Hammers recover from that loss.
