Evan Ferguson’s observation about West Ham players means one thing for the summer transfer window. West Ham United signed Evan Ferguson from Brighton on a loan deal on transfer deadline day.
The deal was a straight loan, so if Evan Ferguson succeeds at West Ham, which I’m sure he will, the Hammers owners will have to negotiate a fee with Brighton to bring him to the London Stadium permanently in the summer. The Hammers fought off plenty of competition to sign Ferguson – as many as 20 clubs wanted the 20-year-old. The young striker proved in the 2022/23 season just how good he is.
Sure, he’s gone off the boil over the past 18 months or so, but his talent is undeniable. If Potter gets his team to play with Ferguson as the focal point, I think we’ll be on to a winner.

The Republic of Ireland international has all of the attributes needed to succeed with the Hammers.
It has been a long, long time since we had a proper, old school No.9 at West Ham.
Ferguson himself seems to be delighted to be at the London Stadium, with the chance to work with his former boss Graham Potter. The 20-year-old spoke to WHUFC.com after completing his move to West Ham.
And he opened up on how excited he is to play alongside some of the stars we have at the London Stadium right now:
“I’d say I’m more of like an out-and-out number nine and one who wants to score goals,” stated Ferguson. “I’m here to do my best for the Club and see where we can go. I think it’s one of the factors [behind his move] because coming here, you know you’re going to be playing with players that can give you assists and have that quality.”

As far as I’m concerned, we should all be hugely excited about Ferguson’s comments.
In spite of the disastrous first half of the season with Julen Lopetegui at the helm, we still have a huge pull. Players still look at the Hammers as an attractive club to join.
We have a 62,500 seater stadium in the middle of London, with numerous elite players amongst our ranks.
Never underestimate the power of having the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the club. I predict that West Ham will sign Evan Ferguson in the summer transfer window, alongside a whole host of other top-class players.
