‘Don’t overthink it…’ – Neville & Keane disagree on West Ham v Brighton prediction

Gary Neville and Roy Keane disagree over West Ham v Brighton prediction. West Ham United have driven a disagreement between Roy Keane and Gary Neville as the duo debated the outcome of the clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Hammers host Brighton this Saturday [21 December] having taken a draw from Bournemouth last time out, while Brighton were beaten comfortably by rivals Crystal Palace at the Amex Stadium.

Speaking on The Overlap’s Stick to Football alongside Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott and Ian Wright [19 December, 1:11:18], Neville opted for a draw as the game would be too tough to predict either way, while Keane cited Albion’s poor defence as reason for an Irons victory.

    “We’re guessing, aren’t we? Don’t overthink it. We haven’t a clue, so I’ll go 1-1,” Neville said.

“[Brighton] can’t defend. West Ham win,” Keane responded, as Scott added: “2-1”.

West Ham v Brighton to promise goals?

For what Keane has remarked over Brighton’s defending, from a Hammers perspective it is also unfortunately worthwhile to mention Julen Lopetegui’s side have conceded four more league goals than their weekend opponents this season.

Brighton have also scored five more goals, which positions Fabian Hurzeler’s men ninth in the Premier League, sitting five points above their hosts.

All signs point to goals at the London Stadium as a result, and despite giving way to Enes Unal’s stunning free-kick late on at Bournemouth, Lopetegui and the squad will at least take some confidence from taking a return from a ground where several top sides have faltered.

The Spaniard has bought himself at least a short stint of time, but that feeling remains whereby his job could be under immediate threat once again via one more poor performance.

Brighton will smell blood after their disappointment by Palace last weekend, but the Hammers will be equally as up for the fight and this could be a case of “you have a go, we have a go”. Alternatively, it could be a drab, goalless stalemate. Such is the unpredictability of the Premier League.

In other West Ham news, a midfielder from La Liga is catching the eye for the Irons.
