Don Hutchison reacts angrily to West Ham insider’s ‘sickening’ images

Don Hutchison reacts angrily to West Ham insider’s ‘sickening’ images. It doesn’t usually take much for West Ham fan unrest towards the owners to bubble to the surface.

That is the case right now after a dismal year for West Ham, culminating with a lack of activity in the January transfer window.

The decline set in under David Moyes and worsened when he only signed Kalvin Phillips while losing Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals last January.

West Ham made totally the wrong appointment when replacing Moyes with Julen Lopetegui.

He and Tim Steidten then got the summer rebuild badly wrong. And here West Ham are languishing in 15th in the Premier League with nothing but pride to play for in what remains of the season.

Fan resentment bubbles back to the surface at West Ham. Although supporters are happy with the appointment of Graham Potter, they were disappointed the board were only able to bring in Evan Ferguson on loan during the window.

Fans were angry last night when a top club source claimed Potter faces a difficult summer window at West Ham with serious doubts over the transfer funds he will be given. When the Hammers faithful aren’t happy with the ownership, they’re not shy in letting them know.

And no matter what the issue, all the cards are on the table when West Ham fans are airing their grievances against the board. So it may be a case of look away now for fed up Hammers.

Don Hutchison has reacted angrily to a West Ham insider’s ‘sickening’ images shared on social media. Ex midfielder turned pundit Hutchison represented the Hammers over two spells.

He sill has strong contacts at his old club and keeps a close eye on West Ham news and fortunes. Now Hutchison has made it clear he’s not happy with what Sean Whetstone has posted on social media.

Whetstone is a close confidant of majority owner David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady. West Ham fans will probably never get over leaving their beloved Upton Park.

Hammers supporters miss the famous old ground more than many of them ever imagined they would.

West Ham left their home of 112 years for the former Olympic Stadium in Stratford nine years ago. But the simple fact is many fans simply haven’t taken to the London Stadium.

That has been reflected in the atmosphere much of the time. West Ham have moved to try and improve the matchday experience in recent seasons.

And plans are in place to continue meeting with certain fan groups to continue to improve the London Stadium for match-going supporters. The stadium move sits at the very heart of any festering resentment between the fanbase and the ownership.

Many fans and pundits feel the move – and the fact the London Stadium is not designed for football – has played its part in destroying West Ham’s soul. Upton Park was razed to the ground to make way for flats as part of West Ham’s move to Stratford.

Now Whetstone has posted images and information about Upton Park and how it looks today, nine years after West Ham moved out.

The pictures have quite literally turned Hutchison’s stomach – as they will many a Hammers fan.

Whetstone said: “Upton Gardens consisting 842 flats where one bedroom flats sell for around £350,000 and 3 bedroom flats sell for around £500,000.

“Rentals for a three-bed apartment (cost) between £2,600 and £2,700 per month.”

Hutchison doesn’t hold back with his views after he spotted the post and images sparking angry reaction among Hammers supporters. “Ah makes me wanna be sick,” Hutchison said candidly.

    “What a ground.”

What a ground indeed. Close to the pitch, a cathedral of noise for big games – especially under the nights.

Gone but never forgotten. Long live the Boleyn.
