Arsenal fans have ripped into Christoph Baumgartner on social media after the Austrian star injured Gunners captain Martin Odegaard during the international break.
Supporters have been left sweating over the fitness scare after medics said the Norway playmaker picked up an ankle sprain following a challenge by Baumgartner during his side’s 2-1 win over Austria in the Nations League on Monday evening
Solbakken said it was “not certain that [Mikel] Arteta will call me tonight and praise me” with the Arsenal boss no doubt hoping Odegaard is not ruled out for too long as he bids to bring the PremieLeague title back to the Emirates for the first time in two decades.
Arsenal fans have vented at RB Leipzig forward Baumgartner after the news, piling in with messages on the player’s most recent Instagram post from Austria’s previous game in Slovenia on Friday.
One fan replied: “How dare you break Odegaard’s ankle,” while another wrote: “Do you play football or UFC?” A third accused him of “dirty play”, adding: “Very reckless tackle! You don’t even seem ashamed!”

Odegaard’s blow happened in the 67th minute of the game after Baumgartner’s challenge saw the Norwegian’s foot stick into the turf, with the player staying down with his teammates calling the medical team onto the pitch for treatment.
Norway doctor Ola Sand offered an update, telling TV2: “He got a small ankle sprain. We will see, maybe we use ultrasound to look at it. If we are unsure, there will be an MRI tomorrow.
