Carlton Cole rages after what West Ham United fan says on air – ‘Diabolical’. Carlton Cole was left raging at the corner awarded in which West Ham United conceded from against Aston Villa on Friday.
Graham Potter travelled to Villa Park for his first game in charge of the Hammers on 10 January but fell to a 2-1 defeat. After taking the lead early on through Lucas Paqueta, the Villans equalised thanks to a controversial Amadou Onana corner goal, which Cole questioned live on talkSPORT (10 January).
One fan called the radio station and asked: “How on earth was that a corner?”
The former Irons striker quickly responded: “Oh mate, diabolical. Diabolical.”
Carlton Cole rages after West Ham v Aston Villa controversy
There were plenty of positives to take from the West Midlands in the early stages of the clash against Unai Emery’s side. When Paqueta passed home an excellent opener, there was plenty of optimism for how the Hammers could go on to perform.
It is safe to say that that as the game went on, the Irons got tired and the home side managed to take advantage in the end as Morgan Rogers grabbed a winner. Just minutes before this, the Villans were awarded a corner that has baffled football fans across the country considering how clear-cut the decision should have been. Onana’s shot curled away from goal and quite obviously rolled out for a goal kick, but in the mind of referee Tim Robinson, it was a corner.
Obviously, Potter will be disappointed with the defending on show from the set-piece, but ultimately will be as annoyed as Cole that such an obvious decision was called wrong.
In other West Ham, Darren Bent has been left baffled by a transfer rumour that he’s been told.
