‘Desperate’ – Chris Sutton makes ‘atrocious’ prediction for Burnley v West Ham

Chris Sutton makes ‘atrocious’ prediction ahead of Burnley v West Ham

Chris Sutton has claimed Burnley could get a result against West Ham due to the ongoing injury crisis at the London Stadium, despite the hosts’ atrocious home form.

Burnley have lost all six of their home games so far this season but will be desperate to get a foothold and belief from the game, and Sutton has backed them to draw 1-1.

The former Chelsea striker claimed that if West Ham are missing Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, it will provide the hosts with a good chance at getting a result.

Sutton wrote in his Premier League prediction for BBC Sport [23 November]: “West Ham have got a few injury problems in attack, with Michail Antonio definitely sidelined, Jarrod Bowen probably out and Mohammed Kudus rated doubtful for this game.

“That makes this one a bit trickier to predict, even with Burnley’s atrocious home form that has seen them lose six out of six league games at Turf Moor this season.

“Vincent Kompany’s side are bottom of the table and desperate for any kind of foothold to give them a bit of belief.

“They might actually get one here, because of the players that West Ham will be missing.”

    Burnley need to get something

Burnley will be desperate for a result here. That could play into their hands or go against them, but either way, the Hammers will need to ensure they don’t let complacency get the better of them and start thinking they’ve won the game before it starts.

Going away to a ground where the home side has failed to win a single point all season can give a false sense of security. While West Ham are the favourites and should go in with confidence, Burnley are still capable and will be up for it. If Bowen, Kudus and Antonio are all missing it will have a huge impact on Moyes’ team’s attacking play, and without three of their best players, it will prove a significantly harder task than it may have without those injuries.

West Ham should go into this with confidence, they are the better side on paper and will be expected to win, but if they allow any complacency to slip into their minds then it could become a completely different game.
