David Moyes says Hammers won’t make top six

David Moyes claims the Hammers won’t make the top six this season

Despite an unbeaten run of six games undefeated the manager doesn’t believe the squad is equipped to make it in the Premier League‘s top half a dozen clubs. He has already made it clear that the fringe first team squad members have to step up and show their form if the club is to really progress. Injuries and suspensions can get in the way and every one of them needs to be ready to play their part.

Moyes appears to believe he does not have enough players, fully integrated and with fewer resources compared to others compared to several rivals . The result is he is lowering the expectancy levels within the club and among the fans. The win at Spurs has now moved us to within three points of fifth place, Victory tomorrow can thus be seen as incredibly important!

Discussing the situation per the Daily Mirror he said: “I don’t know if we can. If I’m being realistic a top-six finish for us is too much. The level of the teams like Newcastle and Villa, with their resources. “But there are a bundle of teams amongst it and playing so well and because of that it will be really tough. Whether we can hang on their shirt tails, let’s see where we can go.

He added: “We’ve steadily gone along. I can only try to win the games and do what we’re doing. We’ve qualified for Europe after Christmas time, we’re in a League Cup quarter-final.

“We’d like to be first in the Premier League but we don’t quite have that quality or ability. We’re trying to get back up there, we really are, but I’m fully aware that we’re in a period where we’re trying to make things better and integrate two or three players and we’re still probably trying to add to it as well.”
