David Moyes makes infuriating Kudus admission after 3-1 Europa League win

David Moyes plays down Mohammed Kudus hype after West Ham United’s 3-1 Europa League win
David Moyes spoke to reporters about Mohammed Kudus after West Ham United beat Backa Topola 3-1 in the Europa League last night.

Mohammed Kudus scored one goal for West Ham in the Europa League opener, and he was unlucky not to have two really after our equaliser was ruled as an own goal.

Hammers boss David Moyes recently admitted that Kudus needs more time to settle into life in England.

He addressed the media after the game and was unsurprisingly asked about the Ghana international’s performance.
Kudus was a constant threat for us last night and despite the fact that he’s still settling into the team, it’s clear to see that we have a real player on our hands.

Moyes played it cool yet again though when speaking to the media about the 23-year-old…

David Moyes plays down Mohammed Kudus hype after West Ham win 3-1 in the Europa League
The Hammers fans are hugely excited about the Ghanaian attacking midfielder, and we want to see him start week in, week out for the club now.

However, Moyes tempered the expectations surrounding Kudus when speaking to reporters last night, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“I thought Mo started the game really well and the team was playing well in the opening 20 minutes. He faded away, but in the end he came up with one and maybe two goals, I’m being told, so I’m really, really pleased for him. He’s made a good start, we like him a lot and we’ll edge him in when we get the opportunities in the right moments to do so. I’m pleased because we needed someone to come up with goals tonight and he was the one who did it.”

Moyes is well-renowned for easing new signings in slowly, especially those who come to the Premier League from abroad.

Most of the time he gets it right, but I feel as though players like Kudus need to find a certain kind of rhythm quickly, if they are to succeed.
The 23-year-old is an attacking player so he will thrive on his goal and assist record. The more minutes he plays, the easier it will be for him to find consistency with his attacking output. And I must admit, I do worry that Moyes will ease him into action too slowly.

I find it annoying sometimes when Moyes is too cautious with his new signings – especially attacking players. It seems to me like he misses out on them enjoying that honeymoon period when they are flying high on confidence.

Hopefully Mohammed Kudus makes it impossible for Moyes not to play him and his goal(s) for West Ham in the Europa League last night will definitely help his cause!
