David Moyes instantly reacts as West Ham are battered v Chelsea, Richard Keys replies

David Moyes reacts as West Ham United lose to Chelsea, Richard Keys responds. David Moyes states that it’s disappointing to see West Ham losing to Chelsea, given their good record at home against the Blues.

Enzo Maresca’s side ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at the London Stadium on Saturday, 21 September, leaving the Hammers in 14th place. Historically, the Blues have struggled to get points from their short travels to the home of the Irons, but it was relatively smooth sailing for them.

Moyes told beIN Sports: “They will be disappointed because we had a good record against Chelsea at the London Stadium over the years. “There were difficulties at Stamford Bridge but at home, we’ve been pretty good up against them.

“It’s disappointing, getting the third goal in after half-time.” Richard Keys replied: “There was never any enthusiasm. There was never any aggression.”

David Moyes watches his former West Ham side struggle v Chelsea

For Moyes, the loss to Chelsea at the London Stadium represents a significant deviation from the recent historical script, particularly under his management. The Scotsman had cultivated a reputation of resilience against top teams, especially at home, where the Hammers often punched above their weight, including against Chelsea.

This match showed a West Ham side that not only failed to replicate that competitive spirit but also capitulated in a manner uncharacteristic of Moyes’ tenure.

The ease with which Chelsea secured their victory highlights a tactical or motivational disconnect, possibly exacerbated by the transition from Moyes to Lopetegui.

Moyes might feel particularly frustrated because this result suggests a regression in the club’s ability to challenge top-tier opponents at home, a fortress he had painstakingly built.

Things need to change quickly or Lopetegui could soon be in the firing line at the club.

In other West Ham news, a Ballon d’Or contender made his decision after the Hammers’ attempt to sign him on a free transfer.
