David Moyes has revealed his biggest mistake

In revealing that Jarrod Bowen will be the central striker for the remainder of the season manager David Moyes has revealed his biggest mistake – Danny Ings!

This was the man who at a £15 million transfer fee was the answer to our second striker problem should Mikey Antonio get injures, be suspended or lose his form – two out of three there then!

Ings, meanwhile, has made the briefest of appearances since he joined and failed to score since last February in the Premier League followed by a goal against Gent two months later. That adds up to no goals in 24 games.

It may seem to him and his admirers that the Bowen option is a Moyes master stroke – it’s just a shame he didn’t realise it before he bought Ings and played him so unsuccessfully for last season and this one.

There was Bowen capable of scoring goals for fun yet it didn’t seem to occur to the manager to give him the chance when Mikey was failing to find the net with monotonous regularity.

In fact Moyes has Tim Steidten to thank for the move as he had persuaded a right winger/central striker into the club – one Mohammed Kudus – whose remarkable pieces of brilliance down that side gave us a totally unexpected late win at Burnley.

It’s known that Kudus and Alvarez were the technical director’s picks and JWP Moyes’ so lets hope Steidten gets the go ahead on a striker this winter as an Ings replacement!
