Darren Bent predicts West Ham United Premier League finish, ‘unbelievable’ admission shared
Darren Bent has predicted a top-six finish in the Premier League for West Ham on the back of their good start to the season.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (22 September), the pundit said securing a place in the Champions League places could be “one step too far” for the Hammers.
But he believes the Irons will finish in the top six, with host Andy Goldstein responding to the claim by saying that would be “unbelievable” for the club.
When asked about West Ham’s top-four aspirations, Bent said: “I just think that might be one step too far. Listen, they have had some good results this season, when they went to Brighton was probably the most impressive one.”
Goldstein followed up with: “Predict their season then, where will they finish West Ham?”
“Top six,” Bent responded in a confident manner.
The host then added: “That would be unbelievable.”
In the mix
It would go down as a successful season if West Ham are in the mix for another top-six finish come the end of the season, earning yet another campaign in Europe.
It has been an excellent start, but the players need to continue working hard and doing the simple parts of game well, something that has been crucial to the early success.
The next big test will come against Liverpool on Sunday (24 September) and that will provide an indication on whereabouts we can finish at the end of the season.
But it’s good to see Bent so confidently predict that the side will manage to finish in the top six, especially on the back of losing Declan Rice to Arsenal over the summer.
The squad is looking well balanced at this moment in time, though, and we just hope they can continue to impress in the league, while also managing to remain competitive in Europe.
