Darren Bent excited by West Ham transfer rumour he’s been told

Darren Bent is excited by the prospect of seeing Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford lining up for West Ham United.

Graeme Bailey reported on Thursday (9 January) that West Ham have joined the list of clubs showing an interest in out-of-favour Man United ace Rashford.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth added to that later in the day that there is an acceptance a deal will only likely be struck if Rashford accepts a massive wage cut.

When told about the rumour by Andy Goldstein live on talkSPORT [9 January, 4:51pm], Bent said: “I get that [a deal is unlikely], but there’s something exciting about Rashford on the left and [Jarrod] Bowen on the right.”

Marcus Rashford latest at Manchester United

Rashford is massively out of favour under new boss Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford and has admitted he wants a move away.

The big problem he has, though, are his reported wages. West Ham simply cannot afford to match what Man United are offering him.

They would be worth considering if Rashford was in the form of two seasons ago, but four goals in 15 Premier League games this term is a poor return.

Tim Steidten, a man who is himself struggling right now, instead needs to focus on more realistic January transfer targets.

There would indeed be something exciting about Rashford and Bowen lining up in the same attack, but Mohammed Kudus will have something to say about that.

A busy few weeks await at the London Stadium, and now that a new manager is in place in Graham Potter, let’s hope a new recruit or two comes through the door before early February.
